  • Week 1

    This week's topic focuses on the culture and natural language of the Jamaican Deaf community; Jamaican sign Language (JSL). 

    Additionally, introduction to Non-Manual cues and examples of its features are highlighted. 

    Week 1 Vocabularies will include: Alphabet, Greetings and emotions

    • Week 2

      This week's topic focuses on communication strategies for improved communication between Deaf and Hearing people and unique strategies for getting the attention of Deaf persons. 

      Additionally, a significant feature of JSL is the use of "WGH" sign to punctuate sentences. This will be examined in its entirety

      Week 2 Vocabularies will include: Family, WH signs and Jamaican foods.
